The growth of industrial production in Latvia is lower than the EU average

Industrial production in Latvia in December of last year compared to the same month in 2024 increased by 1%, which is lower than the EU average and the eurozone, according to data published on Monday by the EU statistical office "Eurostat" for 26 member countries of the bloc.

The fastest growth among all EU countries for which data is available was recorded in Poland (+6.9%), followed by Sweden (+4.8%) and Croatia (+4.5%). In Lithuania and Estonia, industrial output increased by 0.2%.

At the same time, among the nine countries where industrial production volumes decreased year-on-year, the most significant decline during this period was recorded in Slovakia (-8.5%), Luxembourg (-7.9%), and Bulgaria (-6.8%).

On average, industrial production in December compared to the same month a year earlier increased by 1.4% in EU countries and by 1.2% in the eurozone.

However, compared to November, industrial production volumes in the EU decreased by 0.8% in December, while in the eurozone, they fell by 1.4%.

Compared to the previous month, industrial production increased in 11 countries, with the most significant growth recorded in Luxembourg (+6.4%), followed by Sweden (+4.4%) and Malta (+4.2%). The largest decline was noted in Slovakia (-4.9%), Germany (-2.9%), and Spain (-2.6%). In Latvia, industrial production volumes decreased by 1.4%, in Estonia by 1.7%, and in Lithuania by 0.3%.

Data for Belgium is not available.
