This Thursday, February 5, the vessel DAS is expected to arrive at the docks of Kundzinshala in Riga Port, delivering aviation fuel from the United States.
The port has called this event historic — for the first time in Latvia's history, aviation fuel is being purchased and supplied from the USA.
This step, according to logistics experts, is significant for strengthening the country's energy security and developing sustainable transatlantic partnerships.
Simultaneously with the arrival of the vessel, a new fuel loading and unloading rack will be opened, which will allow for the handling of up to 200,000 tons of fuel per month.
The rack is intended for both the supply of aviation fuel to Riga Airport and for supplying gas stations throughout Latvia.
The vessel DAS will deliver 20,000 tons of aviation fuel to Riga Port, which during the winter period corresponds to approximately two months of total aviation fuel consumption at Riga Airport.
The vessel carrying aviation kerosene will be welcomed in Riga by representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Latvia.
