Most people know that glass is a recyclable material. Instead of glass waste ending up in a landfill, it can be given a new life and transformed into valuable products an unlimited number of times.
Ekobaze Latvia is the only company in the Baltic States that has a modern production line capable of technologically separating used glass from various types of protective films. This process is crucial as it allows for the production of clean glass material for further recycling.
After separation and processing, the glass is further recycled and becomes raw material for the production of new materials. The capacity of the production line is significant — it can process about 20,000 tons of automotive glass per year, significantly reducing waste volumes and contributing to the development of a circular economy that promotes a more environmentally friendly lifestyle.
Accepted for recycling are automotive glass, laminated glass, as well as windows with or without frames, clear glass, and tempered glass. From glass products, a material suitable for recycling is produced, which serves as valuable raw material for new products.
The collection of window and construction glass is particularly important — this glass, which is generated during building repairs, dismantling, and window replacement, represents valuable raw material that can be reintroduced into circulation as new building material or other glass products through recycling. To ensure an efficient process, Ekobaze Latvia offers clients containers ranging from 7 m³ to 14 m³ for accumulating glass.
It is important to understand that the cleanliness of the container is a prerequisite: when ordering a container, the client must ensure that only glass is loaded into it and that it is not mixed with other waste. Sorted glass that is mixed with foreign impurities often cannot be recycled and may ultimately end up in a landfill.
It should be noted that not everything can be recycled, so to ensure the quality production of new products, mirrors, light bulbs, ampoules, and glass vials for medicines, as well as containers contaminated with paint and oily substances, are not accepted.
A small but conscious choice — to properly dispose of glass waste — can become part of significant changes leading to a more environmentally friendly and resource-saving Latvia. Together, we can show that a sustainable lifestyle is not just an ideal but a daily practice where everyone's contribution matters, including the disposal of window or automotive glass.
