Searches at Deutsche Bank. Possibly due to 'affair with Abramovich'

The Federal Criminal Police Office is currently conducting searches at Deutsche Bank.

The German prosecution has ordered searches of Deutsche Bank offices in Frankfurt and Berlin on suspicion of illegal operations. They may be somehow connected to one of the bank's clients, Roman Abramovich.

German police are searching Deutsche Bank offices in Frankfurt and Berlin. According to Der Spiegel, 30 investigators are involved in the checks.

The Frankfurt prosecution informed the publication that it is conducting an investigation into "currently unknown managers and employees of Deutsche Bank" who are suspected of money laundering.

The Süddeutsche Zeitung, in turn, reported that the case may involve the bank's former client, Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich. Since March 2022, he has been under EU sanctions due to ties with President Putin. The publication notes that investigators want to determine whether the bank reported suspicious transactions related to Abramovich's business and deposits to the authorities.
