China has completed the construction of the Tian Shan Shengli Tunnel, which has become the longest high-speed tunnel in the world. Its length is 22 kilometers. This was reported by Xinhua News Agency.

The tunnel is located in a challenging mountainous area in the northwest of China, in the Xinjiang region. The project is part of a large-scale transport corridor aimed at improving logistics and transportation in a region known for its harsh climatic conditions.

According to China Daily, the construction of the tunnel took more than seven years. The project required the use of advanced technologies and equipment to cope with various geological challenges, such as high seismic activity and extreme temperature fluctuations.

As noted by Global Times, the Tian Shan Shengli Tunnel is part of a high-speed railway line connecting the cities of Urumqi and Korla. This line is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the cities, improving accessibility to the region for residents and tourists.

A distinctive feature of the tunnel is its environmentally friendly construction: special drilling and soil reinforcement methods were used to minimize the impact on the environment. Moreover, according to South China Morning Post, the project was implemented with high energy-saving standards in mind.

Experts emphasize that the completion of the Tian Shan Shengli Tunnel will be an important step in China's program to improve infrastructure in the western regions of the country. In addition to its transport benefits, the project creates new opportunities for economic development in Xinjiang and adjacent areas.

It is expected that the line will begin accepting its first passengers in the coming days, adds Xinhua, marking a new stage in the development of China's transport system and strengthening its role as a global leader in infrastructure projects.
