The winner of the "Car of the Year in Latvia 2026" competition has been recognized as the Spanish SUV Cupra Terramar, announced the event organizer Maris Ozolins.
The winner was determined by the results of the jury's voting among seven finalists. A total of 33 new car models were submitted for the competition this year, which also competed for victory in individual categories.
The second place in the "Car of the Year in Latvia 2026" category went to the Volkswagen Tayron, third place was awarded to the Dacia Bigster, fourth to the Renault 5 E-Tech, fifth to the Škoda Elroq, sixth to the Kia EV3, and seventh to the Hyundai Inster.
The Cupra Terramar also won in the "City SUV 2026" category.
In the categories of "Small Car of the Year 2026", "Design Award 'Car of the Year in Latvia 2026'", "Most Sports Car of the Year 2026", and "Electric Car of the Year 2026", the Renault 5 emerged victorious.
Unlike other categories where only the jury voted, in the "People's Favorite 2026" category, anyone could express their opinion. The Audi Q5 received the most votes, totaling 141.
Only the newest car models that entered the Latvian market after October 1, 2024, could be submitted for the competition. In the final, four out of seven cars were electric vehicles.
It was previously reported that the title of "Car of the Year in Latvia 2025" was awarded to the Škoda Kodiaq.
