The United Arab Emirates airline flydubai today launches direct flights between Riga and Dubai three times a week, the Riga Airport reported to LETA.
Earlier, the airport reported that flydubai operates flights to more than 135 destinations in 58 countries, with more than 100 of them previously lacking direct air service to Dubai. The airline's fleet currently consists of more than 90 Boeing 737 aircraft.
It was previously reported that flydubai planned to start direct flights between Riga and Dubai on October 11, 2024, however, in August of last year, the airline announced it was abandoning these plans due to delays in the delivery of new aircraft.
Last year, Riga Airport served a total of 7.12 million passengers, which is 7% more than in 2023, but 8.7% less compared to 2019.
Riga Airport is the largest aviation hub in the Baltic States.
