The municipal enterprise "Rīgas satiksme" is strengthening its management: Janis Naglis, who previously worked on the Rail Baltica project and at the international company Nokia, has been appointed as a new board member. He will be responsible for the finances and digital transformation of the enterprise.

The council of the municipal enterprise "Rīgas satiksme" has appointed Janis Naglis as a new board member — a former board member of the company "Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas", which is implementing the Rail Baltica project in Latvia.

Naglis will start working at "Rīgas satiksme" on June 1.

In the company, he will be responsible for financial management, digital development, efficient resource use, and change processes.

In fact, the enterprise is betting on a leader with experience in both large infrastructure projects and the international technology environment.

Before working at Rail Baltica, Naglis was on the board of the Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital, and earlier worked at "Nokia Networks", where he dealt with financial project control and the implementation of resource management systems.

Naglis himself stated that a modern organization should be built on technological solutions, transparent financial management, and data analysis.

According to him, one of the main goals will be to increase the efficiency of "Rīgas satiksme" and develop digital solutions while maintaining quality service for passengers.

For the residents of Riga, this may mean a further strengthening of the course towards the digitalization of services — from internal management systems to passenger services and more efficient use of the enterprise's resources.

The appointment comes against the backdrop of significant changes in the company's management structure.

Previously, several members of the "Rīgas satiksme" board left — Gints Zeltiņš, Andris Lubāns, and Inga Krukle. Only the chairperson of the board, Gineta Innusa, and Janis Golubev remained in their positions.

The Riga City Council explained the reshuffles by changes in the Cabinet of Ministers' regulations, according to which the number of board members in public capital companies is reduced from five to three.

At the same time, the terms of office for some leaders expired.

Against this backdrop, a competition was announced in February for the position of board member for financial issues and digital transformation.

The financial results of "Rīgas satiksme" for the past year look significantly better than the previous ones.

According to preliminary data, the enterprise's turnover increased to 53.6 million euros, and profit increased several times, exceeding 10 million euros.

"Rīgas satiksme" remains one of the largest municipal enterprises in the country — the company provides bus, tram, and trolleybus transportation in Riga, as well as manages city parking.
