“I’m unlikely to come here again,” shared her experience of visiting the Stockmann shopping center with the portal bb.lv.
Visitors to Stockmann were shocked by the state of the restroom in the shopping center located in the center of Riga. A European capital, by the way.
Intolerable unpleasant odors, scattered toilet paper, splattered liquids of unknown origin... A normal person, after encountering such disorder, would want to leave Stockmann as quickly as possible, rather than return to shopping.
“I’ve never seen anything like this even in third-world countries. Moreover, it’s strange that such a mess exists in an expensive store. I’m unlikely to come here again,” our reader told us.

Here we can only add the eternal quote from Professor Preobrazhensky in Mikhail Bulgakov's novella “Heart of a Dog”: “The ruin is not in the toilets, but in the heads!” Paying elevated prices for goods displayed in the shopping center, customers have the right to expect respectful treatment from the management of this department store. There’s no need for anything supernatural; just tidy up.
We forwarded our reader's outrage to the management of Stockmann. We have not received a response yet – perhaps the top managers ran off to clean the restrooms. If they return and provide a response, we will publish it.
Additionally, it should be noted that several years ago, the Finnish retail group Stockmann sold the property of its shopping center in Riga to the Estonian company Viru Keemia Grupp (VKG). The price was several tens of millions of euros. It’s a pity that the Finns didn’t tell the Estonians how to clean the restrooms.
