The Bank of Latvia will today issue a commemorative two-euro coin featuring the coat of arms of Selia, thus completing the series of commemorative coins dedicated to the five historical regions of Latvia, the Bank of Latvia informed the LETA agency.
The mintage of the "Selia" coin, which features the coat of arms of Selia on its national side, will be 400,000 pieces for circulation (in rolls). A total of 7,000 pieces will be issued as Brilliant Uncirculated in souvenir packaging, and 6,000 pieces will be included in the set of circulating coins.
The coins will be available for purchase in souvenir packaging, in rolls of 25 coins, and as part of circulating coin sets only online — on the website e-monetas.lv — starting today at 12:00.

To allow as many interested parties as possible to purchase the coins, a purchase limit has been set: four souvenir packages, one roll, and four sets of circulating coins per person. The price of the coin in souvenir packaging at the Bank of Latvia will be 12.5 euros, and the set of circulating coins will cost 33 euros.

Purchases can be received by mail or in person at the cash desks of the Bank of Latvia at Bezdeligu Street 3, in Riga.
The graphic design of the national side of the "Selia" coin was created by artist Laimonis Shenbergs.
The coin is minted at the Lithuanian Mint Lietuvos monetų kalykla.
"Selia" will be the only commemorative coin with a denomination of two euros issued by the Bank of Latvia this year.
As previously reported, each eurozone country can issue two commemorative coins with a denomination of two euros each year, dedicated to events of national, European, or global significance. Additionally, all eurozone countries together can issue one more coin on a theme chosen at the European level. Commemorative coins have the same characteristics as regular two-euro coins, but the side designed by the respective country features a commemorative motif.
Euro commemorative coins are legal tender in Latvia and other eurozone countries.
The first two-euro commemorative coin with a special design, issued by the Bank of Latvia in 2014, was dedicated to Riga — it features a panorama of Old Riga.
