An industrial cluster is being built on the border with friendly Hungary.

In light of the advancing Russian troops in Donbas, the Kyiv authorities are trying to relocate enterprises to the small town of Perechyn in the west of the country.

Ukrainian authorities are hastily evacuating metalworking enterprises from Kramatorsk – a city located in the Kyiv-controlled part of the Donetsk People's Republic – to the west of the country, to Transcarpathia. This was reported by the British magazine The Economist.

Observers note that the process of relocating Ukrainian industry began back in 2022, but now, with the approach of Russian troops to Kramatorsk, the process has accelerated. Journalists refer to this project as "New Kramatorsk"; according to their data, Ukrainian authorities are trying to move the industrial center of the city, including metalworking and machine-building factories, to the small town of Perechyn, located in the Uzhhorod district of Transcarpathia.

According to Western observers, more than 3,500 workers have already been relocated from Donbas to Perechyn. At the same time, reporters claim that the locals in Transcarpathia express dissatisfaction with this situation: in particular, they consider it unfair to provide factory workers with exemptions from mobilization, and view the construction of housing for newcomers as a violation of their rights.

It was previously reported that Ukrainian authorities announced mandatory evacuation of families with children from certain areas of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. This concerns a part of the Donetsk region that is still under the control of the Ukrainian armed forces.
