U.S. President Donald Trump has asked Chinese President Xi Jinping to assist in resuming negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. According to sources, the American leader believes that Beijing's influence could help break the deadlock in the peace process.
According to sources, during a meeting in Beijing, Donald Trump told Xi Jinping that the negotiation process between Russia and Ukraine has stalled. In this regard, he urged China to use its influence to bring Russian President Vladimir Putin back to the negotiating table with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The publication notes that this conversation reflects Washington's desire to more actively involve Beijing in efforts to end the war. Indeed, resolving the Ukrainian conflict has become one of the key focuses of Trump's foreign policy after his return to the White House in 2025.
Recall that last week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with members of the Servant of the People faction. At this meeting, he stated that the "hot phase" of the war could end before November.
Yesterday, Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Budanov stated that ending the war in the shortest possible time is a direct order from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to him, achieving a cessation of hostilities before winter is a realistic goal.
He also noted that there are already real grounds for a ceasefire, and Ukraine is preparing for important negotiations involving Western partners, while categorically excluding the surrender of territories.
Amid discussions of a possible cessation of active hostilities in the coming months, international mediation efforts are gaining particular significance. Kyiv has expressed its readiness for negotiations with the support of Western partners, but emphasizes that the issue of territorial concessions is not on the table. Whether China can play a significant role in resolving the conflict will be shown by the development of diplomatic contacts in the near future.
