The wealth of the richest Russians in 2026 increased by another 22 billion dollars, according to the Bloomberg ranking. Severstal shareholder Alexey Mordashov became 3.66 billion richer, while Andrey Melichenko (Eurochem) gained 5.63 billion.
The combined wealth of the richest Russian businessmen increased by nearly 22 billion dollars (about 19 billion euros) in the first five months of 2026. This is according to data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index published on Monday, June 1, which was noted by the publication "Meduza." When compiling the ranking, the agency assesses the value of the assets owned by businessmen based on the financial performance of companies and current stock quotes. The data is updated at the end of each trading day in New York.
As of June 1, the top 500 billionaires includes 20 businessmen from Russia. Alexey Mordashov (the main shareholder of Severstal and the gold mining company Nordgold) occupies the 81st position in the ranking with a net worth of 29.9 billion dollars. According to Bloomberg, the richest Russian has become 3.66 billion dollars richer since the beginning of the year.
As "Meduza" notes, the Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko previously suggested that the head of Severstal transfer money from offshore accounts to Russia. The company responded that Mordashov has no offshore accounts, all his assets are in Russia, and he is under sanctions.
Three Russians Are in the Top 100 of the Ranking, with a Fourth Climbing Up
The largest increase in wealth among Russian participants in the ranking was demonstrated by Andrey Melichenko - the founder of Eurochem and SUEK (the largest coal company in Russia). Over the past five months, the value of his assets has increased by 5.63 billion dollars, reaching 24.6 billion. Melichenko ranks 104th among the most successful businessmen in the world and has been under sanctions from the EU, UK, Switzerland, Australia, and New Zealand since 2022.
The top 100 also includes Vladimir Potanin, the author of collateral auctions, and Leonid Mikhelson, the head of Novatek. Their combined increase in 2026 amounted to over 6 billion dollars.
The Top 100 Ranking Includes Five Germans
The highest position among German citizens - 45th - in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index is held by 88-year-old Klaus-Michael Kühne with a net worth of 44.8 billion dollars, having gained 3.29 billion this year. His area of activity is maritime transport and air logistics. In 53rd place is 86-year-old Dieter Schwarz, with a net worth of 41.1 billion dollars - the chairman of the board and CEO of the Lidl supermarket chain and Kaufland hypermarkets. In addition to them, there are three more German multimillionaires in the top 100.
In the top twenty of the ranking, there are 15 U.S. citizens, who also occupy the first eight positions - all in the technology sector. The largest capital increase was shown by Elon Musk: since the beginning of the year, the value of his assets has increased by 116 billion dollars. The founder of SpaceX and CEO of Tesla tops the ranking with a net worth of 735 billion dollars.
The founder of Amazon and Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos, occupies the 4th position, Meta's head Mark Zuckerberg is 7th, and former Microsoft head Bill Gates is in 18th place.
