U.S. President Donald Trump called current Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio the perfect team and potential candidates from the Republican Party for the 2028 election, but did not specify who among them would run for president and who for vice president.
"Sounds great for the ballot: JD and Marco. I believe this is the perfect team, however, details remain," Trump said at an event in the Rose Garden of the White House.
He asked attendees to "vote" with applause, asking who likes JD Vance and who likes Marco Rubio.
At the same time, Trump did not clarify who he sees as the future president and who as the vice president.
The next U.S. presidential election will take place in November 2028.
