Princess Kate Middleton is preparing to make her first official overseas trip after recovering from cancer.
According to the press service of Kensington Palace, it is expected that next week the British princess will travel to Italy for a two-day working visit in collaboration with the Royal Foundation for Early Childhood, reports bb.lv citing CNN.
Kate established the foundation in 2021 to raise awareness of the impact that early childhood experiences can have on later life.
As stated in a palace announcement sent to CNN on Wednesday, from Wednesday to Thursday, the princess will spend time in the northern Italian city of Reggio Emilia to explore international best practices in supporting young children and their caregivers.
According to the press service of Kensington Palace, Kate will meet with educators, parents, children, and leaders from the community and business sectors.
"The princess is looking forward to her visit to Italy next week to see firsthand how the Reggio Emilia approach creates an environment where nature and loving human relationships come together to support children's development," said a representative of Kensington Palace.
This visit will mark Kate's first international trip since 2022, when she and Prince William visited Boston, Massachusetts, to attend the Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony.
For much of 2024, Kate has been dealing with health issues, but in January of last year, she reported that she was in remission from cancer, a few months after completing her chemotherapy treatment.
In July, speaking to patients at Colchester Hospital in the southeast of England, Kate described the period after cancer treatment as "really challenging," adding that "you can't function normally at home like you used to."
Kate's return to international duties is seen by many as an important milestone in her recovery from cancer treatment, writes bb.lv. Meanwhile, the princess continues to focus on supporting children and families, which remains one of the main areas of her public work.
