Hungary returned millions of dollars and gold seized from Ukraine in March of this year. This is an important step in the bilateral relations between the countries.
Budapest fully returned to Kyiv the funds and valuables confiscated in the spring during the detention of seven Ukrainian cash collectors. This was announced on May 6 by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who called the event "an important step" in bilateral relations.
"Today, the funds and valuables of Oschadbank, seized by Hungarian special services in March of this year, were returned," Zelensky wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to him, Ukraine prioritized the release of the detained cash collectors, while the return of the seized money and gold took more time. The head of state thanked the Hungarian side for "a constructive and civilized step."
