Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that a ceasefire regime will be introduced from midnight on May 6. Earlier today, the same was announced in Moscow, just on a different day.
In his statement, Zelensky spoke about the value of human life:
"To date, there has been no official appeal to Ukraine regarding the conditions for the cessation of hostilities reported on Russian social media. We believe that human life is incomparably more valuable than the 'celebration' of any anniversary. In this regard, we announce a silence regime starting from 00:00 on the night of May 5 to May 6. During the time remaining until that moment, it is realistically possible to ensure the onset of silence. We will act reciprocally, starting from the specified moment," wrote the President of Ukraine.
Earlier today, Zelensky, who is on a visit to Armenia, suggested that Ukrainian drones could indeed "fly over" during the parade.
As for Russia, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced a ceasefire on May 8-9 – in accordance with Vladimir Putin's decision, the Ministry of Defense reported.
At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that, in the event of attempts by Ukraine to disrupt the celebration of Victory Day in Moscow, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation would "deliver a retaliatory massive missile strike on the center of Kyiv."
"Russia, despite the capabilities we have, has previously refrained from such actions for humanitarian reasons. We warn the civilian population of Kyiv and employees of foreign diplomatic missions about the need to leave the city in a timely manner," the statement said.
