Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo told President Vladimir Zelensky about the unacceptability of drone violations of Finnish airspace. He stated this in a comment to Yle.
It was noted that two drones, suspected of violating Finnish airspace, entered early on Sunday, May 3.
Orpo stated that he discussed this issue during a bilateral meeting with Zelensky. "I emphasized that it is unacceptable for Finnish airspace to be violated and for drones to enter our airspace," he stressed.
According to Orpo, the government has reliable information about the events that occurred overnight. He noted that a violation of airspace is always a serious matter.
He emphasized that Finland is well-prepared to monitor and protect its airspace from drone attacks. The country's prime minister also assured that these capabilities will be significantly enhanced in the near future.
Furthermore, he believes that after discussions with the Ukrainian government, Ukrainians will be "more cautious in the future to ensure that drones do not enter Finnish airspace again."
In the last days of March and early April, four drones identified as Ukrainian were discovered in various locations in southeastern Finland.
As reported by bb.lv, today an air alert was declared in eastern Latvia due to an attack by Ukrainian drones on Russian facilities.
