Russia has provided Iran with intelligence data that could severely harm Israel — media

Russia has provided Iran with detailed information about 55 energy facilities in Israel, reports The Jerusalem Post citing sources, as noted by LETA referencing Ukrainska Pravda.

The report describing the deepening cooperation between Moscow and Tehran in the exchange of intelligence data notes that this gives Iran the capability to carry out precision strikes on Israel's energy system.

The first-level targets are generating facilities, the destruction of which would paralyze the country's energy system. The report specifically highlights the Orot Rabin power plant.

The second-level targets include major energy hubs in cities and industrial enterprises in central Israel.

The third level encompasses local infrastructure, such as regional substations servicing industrial parks and small power plants.

Russian intelligence services believe that Israel's energy system is vulnerable due to its high isolation, as Israel is an "energy island" and does not import electricity from neighboring countries.

Additionally, they assess that even damage to a few key components could lead to a complete and prolonged energy collapse, resulting in widespread power outages and technical issues that would be difficult to resolve.

Ukrainian officials believe that Russia has a dual motive for providing this intelligence data to Iran, the publication notes.

Moscow aims to bolster the resolve of its main regional ally and provoke a new crisis in the Middle East that would divert the attention and resources of the international community from Ukraine.
