Nagiev is being 'cut out' of films, advertisements, and TV shows. What happened?

Popular Russian actor and TV host Dmitry Nagiev has effectively found himself under a boycott in Russia after he made critical remarks about the war in Ukraine and the state of local cinema in December.

According to several media outlets, including The Moscow Times, all advertising contracts with Nagiev have been terminated, his images have been urgently removed from city banners, and his participation in TV shows and new films has effectively been blocked.

In particular, scenes featuring Nagiev were cut from the comedy film "The Little Bird of My Love" (directed by Vaisberg) at the final editing stage due to "reputational risks." His involvement in other projects is also under threat, although some of them are still in production.

Nagiev, known as the host of the show "The Voice" and a star of the popular series "Kitchen," has avoided direct collaboration with federal channels since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. However, his statements in December, in which he indirectly condemned the war and criticized Russian cinema, provoked a sharp reaction from authorities and the industry.

Sources indicate that this is a "price for disloyalty" — the actor now faces closed doors in television, cinema, and advertising. Nagiev later attempted to soften the context of his statements, claiming that his words were taken out of context.
