According to the INSA poll published by the dpa agency, the rating of the far-right 'AfD' remained at last week's level of 26%, allowing the party to surpass the conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) of Friedrich Merz and its Bavarian partner, the Christian Social Union (CSU), which together scored 25%.
In third place is the Social Democratic Party (SPD), whose ratings have dropped to 13%. The 'Greens' and 'Left' parties scored 12% and 11% respectively, unchanged from the previous poll.
The margin of error for the study was 2.9 percentage points, with 1,199 respondents surveyed. Another poll showed that only 15% of Germans are satisfied with Merz's federal government, marking the worst rating for the current coalition.
It is noted that the 'AfD' is gradually distancing itself from former U.S. President Donald Trump and the MAGA movement amid negative reactions from Germans regarding the war in Iran and the approaching state elections.
