An officer of the French Navy disclosed the exact location of the aircraft carrier "Charles de Gaulle" by sharing his geolocation through a fitness tracker app.

The Strava app is well-known among running enthusiasts, allowing users to share their runs and walks with the community.

As a result, since the officer's profile was public, any user of the app could see that his morning run, lasting just over half an hour on the deck of the aircraft carrier, was taking place northwest of Cyprus, approximately 100 kilometers from the Turkish coast.

Currently, the location of the aircraft carrier in the region, accompanied by three frigates and a supply ship, is not a secret: at the beginning of March, E. Macron himself announced a strategic deployment near the Middle East. However, in the context of military operations, this breach could pose serious security threats to the vessel.

App users could track the entire route of "Charles de Gaulle" almost in real-time, considering that the careless officer had previously shared other runs on the deck of the aircraft carrier: on February 14 near the Cotentin Peninsula, on February 27 in the Baltic Sea...

Among the crew were other members who shared photos of the deck, other military personnel, and sports equipment inside the ship on the fitness app.

The General Staff assures that "appropriate measures will be taken by the command."

Meanwhile, the French were asked what they would like to name the new aircraft carrier that Macron plans to build.

Many commentators suggested naming the aircraft carrier after Napoleon. Other options included: Zinedine Zidane, Jean Moulin, Jacques Chirac, Marianne, Alain Delon, Joan of Arc.

E. Macron announced the intention to build a new aircraft carrier at the French military base in Abu Dhabi. The aircraft carrier is expected to be commissioned in 2038. Preliminary estimates suggest it will cost France between 5-10 billion euros.

Ultimately, Macron himself chose the name for the new aircraft carrier. He wants to name it France Libre / Free France.
