The Hungarian Prime Minister personally addressed the President of the European Commission.
Hungary has called on the EU to "immediately" lift sanctions on oil and gas from Russia amid the escalation of the war in the Middle East, reports Deutsche Welle. "The EU must immediately lift the ban on the import of Russian oil and gas," wrote Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto. "If Brussels maintains the sanctions, it will cause serious harm to Europeans and the European economy. The focus should be on protecting the interests of Europeans, not ideology."
Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that he personally made this request to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The politician noted that she must lift sanctions on Russian energy resources to "prevent the rise in diesel and gasoline prices to unbearable levels."
