Influential billionaire from the UAE Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, head of Dubai National Insurance Company, accused Trump of dragging the Middle East into a war with Iran.
“Who gave you the right to drag our region into a war with Iran? And on what basis was this dangerous decision made? Did you calculate the side effects before pulling the trigger? And did you consider that the countries in the region would be the first to suffer from this escalation?” writes Al Habtoor on his social media.
He also questions whether Israel influenced Washington's decision: “Was this solely your decision? Or was it the result of pressure from Netanyahu and his government?”
“You have put the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and other Arab states in the center of a danger they did not choose. Who allowed you to turn our region into a battlefield?” writes Al Habtoor.
Al Habtoor noted that Middle Eastern countries contributed billions of dollars to Trump’s “Peace Council.”
“And these states have the right to ask today: where did that money go? Are we funding peace initiatives or a war that puts us in danger?” writes the businessman.
He reminds that Trump promised not to get involved in wars and to focus solely on America.
“Your decision also threatens the American people, to whom you promised peace and prosperity. Today, Americans see themselves dragged into a war funded by their taxes,” states the billionaire.
