The US and Israel carried out new strikes on Iran on the night of March 6. Among other things, American forces used penetrating bombs dropped from B-2 bombers to target ballistic missile launch silos and struck military factories, said General Brad Cooper, head of US Central Command (CENTCOM).
Since the beginning of the war, according to Cooper, as reported by The Times of Israel, the ability of Iran to strike with ballistic missiles has been reduced by 90% and the ability to attack with drones by 83%. He also stated that American forces have struck at least 30 Iranian military ships, as quoted by Meduza.
The Chief of Staff of the IDF, General Eyal Zamir, in turn, reported that as a result of strikes by the Israeli Air Force, 80% of Iranian air defense systems and 60% of ballistic missile launch installations have been destroyed.
Military officials from both countries stated that the 'second phase' of the war with Iran has begun, warning that strikes on the territory of the Islamic Republic will be intensified.
"After completing the phase of a surprise offensive strike, during which we established air superiority and suppressed Iran's ability to strike with ballistic missiles, we are moving to the next phase of the campaign, in which we will intensify the strike on the foundation of the regime and its military potential," Zamir said.
Reuters sources stated that the new phase of the military campaign will target underground infrastructure for missile launches.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated that American forces have enough munitions to continue bombing Iran for an indefinite period. "Iran hopes that we will run out of strength, but that is a gross miscalculation," Hegseth told reporters at the Central Command headquarters in Florida.
The US and Israel began striking Iran on February 28. In response, Iran is attacking Israel and US ally countries in the Persian Gulf with missiles and drones, and has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz, through which one of the main oil transportation routes in the world passes.
