Latvian expert comments.
Martiņš Vargulis, an associate professor at the P. Stradiņš University, acknowledged in an interview with Latvian TV that achieving a regime change in Iran without a ground operation will be very difficult. "Iran is a huge country - it is, for example, 1,000 square kilometers larger than Ukraine and has a population of 92 million.
"The Islamic Revolutionary Guards control the vertical of power, and it is unlikely that the situation can be turned around and the current regime overthrown without a ground invasion," believes the Latvian expert. At the same time, it is quite doubtful that the U.S. would decide on a ground operation.
