Hamas Tunnel Builders Switch to Tunnels from Belarus to Poland 0 9

The British publication Telegraph claims that underground passages have been dug at the border between Belarus and Poland, with the involvement of specialists from the Middle East.

"Although experts say it is difficult to confidently determine which specific groups were involved in the design, they suggested that it could potentially have been Kurdish fighters, Islamic State militants, and Iran-backed proxy groups," writes the Telegraph.

Fortifications expert and former British Army sapper Major Rob Campbell, after reviewing Polish video footage of the tunnels, stated to the publication that Hamas could be a possible culprit.

"If I had to guess, the specialists from the Middle East could have been representatives of Hamas or the 'Palestinian Islamic Jihad,'" he said.

Polish authorities discovered one of the largest tunnels on the Polish-Belarusian border near the village of Narewka in eastern Poland on December 12 of last year.

According to the authorities of that country, the height of the underground passage was 1.5 meters, and the entrance from the Belarusian side was hidden in the forest. The tunnel extended approximately 50 meters from the Belarusian side of the border and 10 meters from the Polish side.

A total of 180 migrants, mainly from Afghanistan and Pakistan, used this underground passage, most of whom were detained after they emerged on the Polish side.

According to Polish authorities, local border guards discovered the fourth tunnel under the border line with Belarus just last year.

The migration crisis in relations between Poland and Belarus began in November 2022, when thousands of migrants—mainly from Middle Eastern countries—attempted to enter EU countries through the Belarusian-Polish border. Polish authorities accused Alexander Lukashenko of artificially creating this crisis. He denied Belarus's involvement in the events.
