TWZ: The Soviet submarine 'Varshavyanka' survived after the US strike on Iran.
The Iranian submarine of the Varshavyanka project (NATO codename - Kilo) of Soviet production survived after the US strike on the Bandar Abbas naval base in Iran, reports the publication TWZ.
The portal analyzed satellite images obtained on March 2 after the American side struck naval facilities in Iran. "The only Kilo-class submarine and mini-submarines remaining in the port apparently were not damaged," the publication states.
Earlier, the portal USNI News, citing the Central Command of the United States Armed Forces, reported that the American side struck the base with Iranian Varshavyanka submarines.
The Iranian side has three diesel-electric submarines of the Tareq project (modernized Varshavyanka submarines), two Fateh project submarines, and several mini-submarines of the Ghadir project. The Tareq project submarine is the largest and most advanced type of Iranian submarines. The submarines are 74 meters long, can carry 18 torpedoes, and can remain underwater for several days.
