On Saturday, when the U.S. and Israel were striking Iran, a rocket hit a girls' elementary school in Minab, Hormozgan province in southern Iran, and the death toll from this strike reached 57, Iranian media reported citing officials, according to LETA referencing DPA.
"This school was a direct target of the strike," reports the Tasnim agency.
Israel and the U.S. have not yet commented on this strike.
At the time of the strike, there were 170 people in the school. Rescue operations are ongoing.
"This is a clear crime. The world must stand against this great injustice," stated Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei in a statement.
As reported, on Saturday, Israel and the U.S. launched strikes against Iran, resulting in missile attacks affecting both the capital Tehran and other cities.
Iran retaliated with strikes against Israel as well as U.S. military facilities in Bahrain and other countries in the Persian Gulf.
