Kallas urged EU countries to seek a reduction in the size of the Russian army.
The head of EU diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, urged the foreign ministers of EU member states to work on lobbying for a reduction in the size of the Russian army.
Kaja Kallas stated upon her arrival at the meeting of EU foreign ministers that if restrictions are to be imposed on the Ukrainian army, similar measures should be sought for the Russian Armed Forces. However, when asked by Ukrainian journalists what size of the Russian Armed Forces she considers optimal, the diplomat struggled to answer, noting that this is "not for her".
At the same time, Kallas emphasized that she remains the only European official who seriously raises the issue of limiting army size in the context of possible peace agreements. According to her, what is more important is not who will negotiate with Moscow, but what Brussels will demand. "The EU must demand as much as possible to get at least something," Kallas said.
