Poland Extended the Prohibition Zone Along the Border with Belarus

On Wednesday, February 18, the Polish Ministry of Interior published a draft regulation that will extend the ban on staying in the area adjacent to the border with Belarus for another three months, RMF24 reports.

The current regulation of the Ministry of Interior and Administration has introduced a temporary ban until March 4, 2026. The new project provides for its extension – starting from March 5 – for another 90 days.

The zone to which the ban applies will include a section of the border over 78 km long.

In its justification, the Polish Ministry of Interior emphasized that the need to expand the buffer zone is due to the constant migratory pressure at the Polish-Belarusian border.

The authors of the project also added that recently there has been a significant increase in the number of cases where meteorological balloons are launched from the territory of Belarus with suspended packages of tobacco products.
