According to the Ukrainian president, he has already accepted Washington's proposal to hold a new round of negotiations with Russia on February 17 and 18 in the United States. However, there is currently no information on whether Russia agrees to these dates and location.

The next round of negotiations between the delegations of Russia, Ukraine, and the United States regarding the cessation of the Russian war is scheduled for February 17 and 18 in the United States, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a comment to Bloomberg on Wednesday, February 11. According to him, he has already accepted the relevant proposal from Washington representatives. However, it remains unclear whether Russia will agree to this meeting in the U.S., Bloomberg notes.

As the agency suggests, during the new round of negotiations, representatives of the countries will "focus on the complex territorial issue" and discuss the U.S. proposal to create a buffer "free economic zone" in Donbas. According to the Ukrainian president, both warring parties view this American idea with skepticism. "We have different views on this. And we agreed on the following: let’s come back with a vision of what this might look like at the next meeting," Zelensky told Bloomberg.

At a meeting with journalists on February 7, the Ukrainian president reported that Washington had proposed the delegations from Kyiv and Moscow hold a new round of negotiations in Miami during the week starting February 9, and he also accepted that proposal. According to Zelensky, the United States aims to end the war before the beginning of summer, as they will have another priority starting in June - the Congressional elections.

Lack of Results in Negotiations in Abu Dhabi

Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S. held two rounds of closed negotiations in Abu Dhabi. The first took place on January 23-24, and the second on February 4-5. On February 5, Kyiv and Moscow agreed on another prisoner exchange. No breakthrough towards ending the war in Ukraine was achieved again.

Nevertheless, following these meetings, all parties, namely Russia, Ukraine, and the United States, reported progress. In particular, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that the list of unresolved issues "has been significantly reduced," but "the most difficult ones remain." The most challenging issues continue to be those regarding the territories occupied by the Russian army and the status of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
