Ukrainian Delegation May Travel to Moscow for Direct Negotiations with Putin - Media

The reason is that the current composition of the Russian negotiating group has no influence in the Kremlin and lacks the authority to make important decisions regarding the resolution of the war.

To expedite the negotiation process, the possibility of sending a Ukrainian delegation to Moscow for direct talks with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is being considered. This was reported by the Telegram channel Ukraine context, which is linked to the head of the Office of the President, Kyrylo Budanov.

It is noted that the reason is that the current composition of the Russian negotiating group has no influence in the Kremlin and lacks the authority to make important decisions regarding the resolution of the war. As a result, the negotiations are effectively "at a standstill."

According to the Telegram channel, at the latest negotiations in Abu Dhabi, a proposal was made to change the meeting location for the delegations. It is assumed that this could help achieve progress in the negotiations.

Additionally, the Telegram channel added that U.S. special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner could become "security guarantors." There were suggestions that their plane would arrive in Warsaw, where it would pick up the Ukrainian negotiators and fly to Vnukovo Airport, after which both delegations would hold direct talks with Putin.

"However, despite this, the participation of Kyrylo Oleksiyovych Budanov remains in question, as he was 'arrested' in absentia by the Russian Federation in 2023 on fabricated charges," the Telegram channel emphasized.

Moscow's Reaction

State Duma Deputy Alexey Chepa stated in a comment to Russian media that Russia "is ready to ensure full security" for the Ukrainian delegation if it decides to come to Moscow for negotiations. He added that Moscow "has invited the Ukrainian side many times, particularly President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky."

Chepa also assured that Russia is allegedly "interested in constructive negotiations." Nevertheless, he expressed doubts that such a visit would actually take place.

Without a Meeting with Putin, Painful Issues Cannot Be Resolved

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the authorities of our country are open to meetings in any format with representatives of the Russian Federation and the United States within the framework of the negotiation process to end the war. According to him, without a meeting with the head of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, it will not be possible to reach an agreement on territorial issues.

Zelensky noted that in the peace plan of 20 points, there are indeed these painful issues regarding territories. He emphasized that these issues cannot be resolved separately by any of the leaders.
