Zelensky signed a decree allowing men over 60 to serve in the AFU.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree allowing men over 60 years old to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The document was published on the official website of the head of state.

"Individuals aged 60 and older (...) are accepted for military service under contract for a period of one year," the document states.

Thus, Zelensky made amendments to the decree on military service adopted during President Viktor Yushchenko's term in 2008. No other details have been reported.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that after the end of the war with Russia, the AFU would transition from a mobilization model to a contract model. This, the politician noted, would create competitive salaries for military personnel.
