The application for subsidies to mitigate the effects of military noise from the Nursipalu training ground is open again until Friday.
In addition to pensioners and low-income individuals, families raising minor children can also receive the subsidy. For all these categories, the amount of the benefit will be 100% of the costs.
First and foremost, the subsidy can be received by people living within a radius of up to two kilometers from the training ground and who, at the time of submitting the application, are recipients of an old-age pension, survivor’s pension, or social pension, disability benefits, or subsistence benefits, as well as families raising at least one minor child. In this case, the amount of compensation will be 100%.
"Thanks to this support measure, we can primarily help those who are most in need of funds for repairing windows and doors in their homes. Based on the experience of the first round and feedback from local governments, we have refined the subsidy conditions to better meet the needs of local residents," explained Tambet Tõnisson, head of the state property sector at the Centre for Defence Investments (RKIK).
Secondly, applications from all other residents whose housing is located within a radius of up to two kilometers from the training ground will be considered. In this case, the amount of the subsidy will be 90%, and the share of self-financing will be 10%.
Thirdly, applications from people whose housing is located at a distance of two to four kilometers from the training ground will be considered. For them, the amount of the subsidy will be 70%, and the share of self-financing will be 30%.
As of January 1, 2025, the residence of the applicant, according to the population register, must be the dwelling for which the subsidy is requested. This time, those who have established a personal right to use the housing can also apply.
