The heavy nuclear missile cruiser (TARKR) 'Admiral Nakhimov', which is undergoing trials after repairs and modernization, will not significantly enhance the power of the Russian Navy's surface forces. This opinion was expressed in a publication by the American outlet 19FortyFive.

The author described the Russian TARKR as a relic of the Cold War rather than a modern ship. He suggested that the upgraded 'Admiral Nakhimov' is unsuitable for operations in disputed areas.

'Upgrading is more of a political theater, the creation of an elite military ship, rather than a real breakthrough,' the article states.

At the same time, the author noted that the upgraded 'Admiral Nakhimov', which received 176 vertical launch systems, has become the most armed surface ship. The cruiser will be able to carry 96 anti-aircraft missiles of the S-400 system and 80 cruise missiles of the 'Onyx' or 'Zircon' types.

In September, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the cruiser 'Admiral Nakhimov' successfully completed the first stage of factory sea trials.
