I do not believe in a ceasefire, and even more so, I do not believe in guarantees.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin does not have strategic reserves to sustain the army and conduct the war. Therefore, he is willing to make any promises to gain a pause in the war in order to subsequently strike Ukraine again.
This statement was made on the air of the "Espresso" TV channel by Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergey Kryvonos. He noted that the ruler of the Russian Federation is facing a "serious and powerful failure in financial provision for 2026."
"By around April-May, this will be felt. Considering our systematic strikes on the Russian oil and gas industry last year, we have reduced Russia's budget revenue by 22-24% in the first half of the year, and the figures will be the same in the second half," explained the Major General.
He emphasized that when Putin says he has many resources, he is bluffing. In reality, the dictator needs a breather and the lifting of sanctions imposed against Russia, and he will promise anything to get that pause.
"I do not believe in a ceasefire, and even more so, I do not believe in guarantees. We have been burned many times, and our biggest burn is the Budapest Memorandum, where Russia, the USA, and the UK promised us that everything would be fine. But when things did not turn out well, everyone said we misunderstood. And Russia said nothing at all – just violated. Therefore, the best guarantor of our security will be our own powerful army, a strong economy, and a trained and motivated people," stated Sergey Kryvonos.
