Former Chancellor of Germany Acknowledges the Decline of the EU 0 15

The European Union (EU) is gradually losing its international significance and is becoming a minor player in global politics. This opinion was expressed by former Chancellor of Germany Gerhard Schröder in an article for Berliner Zeitung.

"The European Union, with its current course, is losing international significance," the statement said.

He pointed out that the weakening of the EU's position is linked to several factors. Among them are the negotiations between the US and Russia regarding Ukraine without the involvement of Brussels, the growing influence of BRICS and SCO countries, whose combined population exceeds half of the world's population, as well as the overall shift in economic and technological dynamics from the West to the East.
