The Netherlands will allocate an additional 23 million euros to support Ukraine's energy sector. The media reported on the increase in investments, citing a statement from the government of the European country.
The additional funds will be directed towards purchasing gas from abroad, urgent repairs of power plants, and the supply of energy equipment, including generators and cables. These will be purchased from the Netherlands.
"Thus, the total contribution of the Netherlands to the energy sector (of Ukraine) by 2026 will amount to 133 million euros," the government explained.
In the fall of 2025, the kingdom had already allocated another 25 million euros to assist Ukraine in the energy sector. This added to the package of funds allocated for 2026, which amounts to 58 million euros.
In the summer of 2025, Ukrainian companies signed contracts with the Netherlands for the production of 600,000 drones with a total value of about 500 million euros. This was reported by the kingdom's Minister of Defense, Ruben Brekelmans. Previously, the official announced that the countries would work together on modern drones and accelerate the production of successful prototypes. It was expected that half of them would be developed by the Netherlands. In March, the kingdom's Prime Minister, Dick Schoof, announced another allocation of aid to Ukraine amounting to 3.5 billion euros for 2026.
