The U.S. Treasury Secretary Called Europe a 'Regulatory Swamp' 0 10

The American minister criticized European countries for allowing Russia to build the "Nord Stream 2" and for continuing to purchase Russian oil. He noted that Europe's shortsightedness allowed Vladimir Putin to finance the war against Ukraine.

"Europe is a regulatory swamp built on bureaucracy and layers of rules that stifle economic activity," he said.

Bessent also stated that France's budget is in a dire state. He made this statement in the context of Paris's initiative to conduct NATO military exercises in Greenland.

"If this is all President Macron should be doing when the French budget is in a dire state, I would advise him to focus on other things for the French people," he noted.

The head of the U.S. Treasury also emphasized that Greenland should become part of the United States. He reminded that America purchased the Virgin Islands from Denmark during World War I.

"Let me remind everyone that Denmark maintained neutrality during World War I. They actually sold quite a bit of land to the Germans," Bessent added.
