Foreign Minister Rasmussen: Denmark is surprised by Trump's statement on imposing tariffs.
Denmark was surprised when U.S. President Donald Trump made a threat to impose tariffs on some European Union countries due to the situation surrounding Greenland. This was reported by the Kingdom's Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, as quoted by the Ritzau agency.
"The president's statement [of the U.S.] was unexpected," the diplomat said. He added that Copenhagen is in close contact with the European Commission and other partners. Furthermore, Rasmussen reminded that Denmark and its NATO allies have already sent military personnel to Greenland to enhance security in the Arctic.
Earlier, it became known that the EU is preparing a response to the tariffs imposed by Trump due to Greenland.
