U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ground special operation in another country. As he stated in an interview with Fox News, it will be aimed at Mexican drug cartels.

"We have intercepted 97 percent of the drug trafficking coming by water, and now we are going to start hitting the cartels on land. The drug cartels run Mexico," the head of state said.

Trump added that he is "very saddened" to see what has happened to the neighboring country. He also shared statistics indicating that 250,000 to 300,000 people die each year in the U.S. due to the actions of Mexican drug cartels.

Earlier, Trump stated that it is criminal organizations that run Mexico, not its president Claudia Sheinbaum. The American leader noted that the United States "will have to do something" about this.
