After the United States detained the tanker Bella 1 (Marinera), sailing under the Russian flag, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued demands to the United States.
The Russian Ministry stated that it is closely monitoring reports of the American military's landing on the vessel Marinera in the North Atlantic, which was sailing under the Russian flag.
"Given the incoming information about the presence of Russian citizens among the crew, we demand that the American side ensure humane and dignified treatment of them, strictly observe their rights and interests, and not hinder their prompt return to their homeland," the Russian Foreign Ministry stated.
In Washington, it seems, Moscow's demand was ignored. The U.S. intends to bring the crew of the tanker 'Marinera' to trial, the White House reports. It is claimed that the tanker 'Marinera' illegally transported oil from Venezuela in violation of U.S. sanctions.
