The state will spend 2,000,000,000 euros on NATO and European Union defense.
Poland has modern, multi-component armed forces integrated into NATO's collective security system, with an emphasis on professionalization and increasing personnel numbers. Their strength will soon be raised to 250,000.
Poland is responding to Russian provocations by strengthening its border. A modern anti-drone defense system along the eastern border will cost two billion euros, which Poland will build over the next two years.
Deputy Minister of National Defense Cezary Tomczyk emphasized in a conversation with the British newspaper The Guardian that this is the Polish government's response to a series of dangerous incidents involving Russian drones that have violated Polish airspace in recent months.
The investment on Poland's eastern border is expected to be fully implemented within two years, with the first elements of the system coming into operation in the coming months. This includes programs for jamming drones, as well as the procurement of machine guns, artillery pieces, and missile systems.
In an interview with The Guardian, Deputy Minister Tomczyk noted that some of the weapons will be used exclusively in the event of armed conflict.
The Polish anti-drone shield will be partially financed through the European defense loan program SAFE (Security Action for Europe), with the remainder coming from the state budget.
Cezary Tomczyk emphasized that as long as Ukraine successfully defends itself against Russia, Europe is not threatened by a regular war, only provocations. However, he warned that if Russia achieves victory over Ukraine, it may turn its aggression against Europe.
