Borrell: The U.S. knows how to destabilize situations from a military perspective.
The U.S. knows how to destabilize situations from a military perspective, but struggles with subsequent political management. This was stated by former head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell in an interview with the Spanish television channel La Sexta.
According to him, U.S. President Donald Trump "doesn't care about international law." Borrell believes that Washington's actions to capture the president of Venezuela are driven not by the defense of democracy, but by the large oil reserves in the Bolivarian Republic. "Oil is not very good, but there is a lot of it," emphasized the interviewee.
Earlier, Trump stated that the U.S. would sell Venezuelan oil. He noted that local producers were unable to extract the fossil in large volumes due to poor infrastructure, which Washington plans to repair, spending billions of dollars.
On January 3, Trump announced the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and his wife, who were charged with drug trafficking. They were taken out of the republic. Footage also emerged showing Maduro in handcuffs and with a bag over his head being led out of a plane.
