A Fire in Amsterdam Destroyed a Historic Church

On New Year's Eve in Amsterdam, a fire destroyed the historic Vondelkerk church, the police reported on Monday, according to LETA citing AFP.

The 50-meter tower of the church collapsed, and the roof was also severely damaged.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established.

The church, built in the 19th century, was used as a Catholic temple from 1880 to 1977, but is currently not used for religious purposes.

The Vondelkerk church had already suffered from a fire in 1904.
