FT: The Élysée Palace acknowledged the need to engage in direct dialogue with the Russian Federation.
European countries acknowledge that at a certain stage of negotiations to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, they will have to resume dialogue with Russia. This was reported by the Financial Times (FT) citing sources.
"At some point, Europeans will have to engage in direct dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as suggested by French President Emmanuel Macron," said a representative of the Élysée Palace.
It is also noted that European countries plan to hold a new round of negotiations in January as part of the so-called "coalition of the willing" to discuss support for Ukraine and ways to resolve the conflict.
On December 19, Macron advocated for Europe to re-engage in dialogue with the Russian leader. The French president stated that this is necessary for European interests.
