Ukrainian Drones Attacked Russian Port: Fuel Storage Tanks Are Burning

The port of Temryuk was attacked by drones, and a fire covered an area of about 2,000 square meters. Two fuel storage tanks caught fire, DW reports.

The seaport of Temryuk in the Krasnodar Krai was attacked by drones on the night of Thursday, December 25. This was reported by the operational headquarters of the region in southern Russia.

As a result of the attack, a large fire broke out, covering an area of about 2,000 square meters. "Seventy people and 18 units of equipment, including employees of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Krasnodar Krai, are involved in firefighting," the statement said.

Two fuel storage tanks caught fire. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties.

The seaport of Temryuk, located in the Temryuk Bay of the Sea of Azov, belongs to the Mechel group. The port's website states that its activities are related to the transshipment of general, bulk, and liquid cargo, as well as leasing production and warehouse facilities. Temryuk is the main export port in southern Russia for liquefied hydrocarbon gas and is also used for shipping oil cargo.

On December 5, the port of Temryuk was already attacked by Ukrainian drones. A fire also broke out at the port, which involved 32 people and 8 units of equipment in firefighting at that time.

Strikes on Russian Ports

In November, Ukraine struck the port of Novorossiysk twice. As a result of the strike on November 14, a fuel base and coastal structures were damaged, after which Transneft suspended oil pumping to the port.

On November 10, Ukrainian unmanned boats attacked the seaport of Tuapse, where one of the largest oil terminals on the Black Sea is located. One of the boats exploded near the shoreline. On November 2, Tuapse had already been attacked by drones, which damaged the terminal's infrastructure and a tanker at the berth. The operation of the Tuapse Oil Refinery of Rosneft was suspended after that.
