Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna assured that Estonia is ready for a decisive response to potential Russian aggression and Moscow should have no doubts about this. His words were reported by RMF24 in communication with Polish media.
Tsahkna noted that Estonian services are closely monitoring the situation in the border area, especially near the city of Narva, which is considered the first likely target for Russia in the event of aggression.
"I will say it straight: if the 'little green men' ever cross our border – we will shoot at them. The consequences will be such, there is nothing to discuss. If Russia is not sure that we will really respond – they may test us," emphasized the Estonian Foreign Minister.
He added that the same applies to violations of Estonia's airspace by Russian fighters, reminding of the incident on September 19.
"If we see that Russian fighters pose a threat to our security – we will shoot them down. This is a red line, and Putin must remember this. He must know that this is NATO territory, and the consequences of aggression will not go unpunished," Tsahkna stressed.
The minister also emphasized that Europe "absolutely cannot trust Putin," especially regarding countries that share a border with Russia.
