The Prime Minister of Belgium explained why Latvia demands to confiscate Russia's money

Some countries supported the reparations loan as they experienced communism. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Belgium, Bart De Wever, in an interview with Politico.

The head of the Belgian government listed the countries that support the mentioned initiative. Among them, he named Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Germany, Poland, and the Scandinavian countries.

"The closer you live to Russia and the better you remember what communism really means when you have to experience it, the stronger the motivation to do this... This is quite understandable, and this is not a reproach," said Bart De Wever.

The politician emphasized that the mentioned states have formed a "large and influential bloc," whose opinion the European Commission leans towards. According to the Prime Minister, the main thing is to understand "what Europe will say."

As reported bb.lv, yesterday, on December 17, under the leadership of the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, a meeting of the National Security Council took place at the Riga Castle. The Council agreed that it is extremely important to make a decision on the use of frozen Russian funds to support Ukraine as an important step in the further process.

Let us remind you that around 300 billion dollars belonging to the Russian Federation are currently frozen worldwide. Of this, 200 billion are held in Belgium.
